When you write in, it helps enormously to include your iOS version, your iPhone model, and the level number if it is about a specific puzzle.
The numbers beside each row and column tell you how many squares in that line are filled, and in what
order. A row marked 4 2 has a run of four filled squares, at least one gap, then a run of
two. Fill the squares you can prove, cross off the ones you can prove are empty, and a picture appears.
Every puzzle can be solved by pure logic. You never have to guess. If you are stuck, there is always another line somewhere with a deduction waiting in it.
Tap a square to fill it. Switch to Mark to cross squares off instead — crossing off is note-keeping and never costs you anything. You can drag across a run of squares rather than tapping each one.
You have three. Filling a square that is not part of the picture costs one. The square is not filled in when that happens, so the board you are looking at is always correct — nothing wrong ever ends up on it.
A single drag costs at most one heart, however many wrong squares it crosses, and it stops at the first one. Tapping the same wrong square again is free. Lose all three and the board restarts with a clean grid and three hearts; the puzzle is still there and nothing else is lost.
Levels are ordered by how long they take rather than by grid size, and you play them one at a time. Finish the one you are on to unlock the next.
One puzzle a day, the same one for everyone, and it ignores the level order — so it is always available even if you are stuck on your current level. It rotates through the whole set.
Every picture you finish is printed to the album, reachable from the home screen once you have solved your first level. You can share it as an image from there.
Yes. Progress is stored on your device only — we never receive it, so we cannot restore it. If you restore your phone from an iCloud or computer backup, your progress comes back with it, because it is included in your device backup.
Completely. Every puzzle is included in the app. No connection is needed to play.
Settings → Usage data → Off. It stops immediately. See the privacy policy for exactly what it covers.
Please tell us — with the level number. Every puzzle is machine-checked before it ships: a solver has to prove that exactly one solution exists and that pure logic reaches it from a blank grid, and any puzzle that fails is discarded rather than fixed. The app then re-checks every puzzle each time it opens, and quietly leaves out anything that does not pass. So this should be impossible. If it happens anyway we want to know, because it means something upstream is wrong.
On the bigger boards you can pinch to zoom. If it is still awkward, tell us your device — this is something we are actively working on.
The game honours Reduce Motion. Colour is never load-bearing: shape alone carries all the information, and the coloured reveal can be switched off in Settings. If something is not working with the assistive technology you use, please write in — we would rather hear about it than not.
